Apparel – Production Crew Wear

Crew T-shirts and other branded apparel, or swag, are provided to production teams as a gesture of appreciation for their support and use of a manufacturer’s products on set. These items also serve as a strategic marketing tool, giving manufacturers on-set visibility through functional give-a-ways. This page features six examples from the hundreds of apparel items I’ve designed throughout my career

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Collaborating with the lighting crew on a Star Wars production, I was asked to design a crew T-shirt that would resonate personally with the team. Drawing on symbols meaningful to the crew, the bison and the Joshua tree, I crafted a concept that blended these elements with iconic imagery from the Star Wars universe. The design features a silhouette of Obi-Wan Kenobi, within which I integrated a stylized Tatooine sunset, the bison and Joshua tree. To maintain visual continuity, I echoed the sunset motif in the LiteGear logo on the front of the shirt. I was responsible for developing the concept, executing the final artwork, and preparing all color separations for screen printing.

John Wick 3,  Parabellum

Working with the lighting crew on the John Wick production, Parabellum,  I designed a crew T-shirt that would resonate personally with the lighting crew. Drawing on symbols meaningful to the crew, included snakes and the human heart which is symbolic of multiple emotions, including distrust and concern. I crafted a concept that features the snake-heart element.. The design features a high-contrast, single color snake-heart with bold san-serif text applied to balance the design. To maintain visual continuity, I added a dripping red element to the LiteGear logo on the front of the shirt. I was responsible for developing the concept, executing the artwork, and preparing all color separations for screen printing.

Hawkeye

Collaborating with the fixtures crew on the Disney Plus production Hawkeye, I designed a crew T-shirt that would resonate with the production crew. Incorporating symbols meaningful to the crew, including the Hawkeye silhouette drawing his arrow, a flaming city of Atlanta skyline, and tire tracks. Splashes of color were inspired from the purple of Hawkeye’s uniform and the flames over Atlanta. The design features a high-contrast, single color snake-heart with bold san-serif text applied to balance the design. To maintain visual continuity, I added the purple element to the LiteGear logo on the front of the shirt. I was responsible for developing the concept, executing the artwork, and preparing all color separations for screen printing.

Westworld – Season 2

Working with the lighting crew on the second season of the production Westworld, I designed a crew T-shirt that would resonate personally with the fixtures department. Drawing on symbols meaningful to the crew, including the two circuit board handguns (borrowed from a Westworld theatrical poster and the iconic show logo, I crafted a concept that blended these elements. The design features a the two stylized handguns encompassing the Westworld logo. To maintain visual continuity, I echoed the Westworld “maze” into the LiteGear logo on the front of the shirt. I was responsible for developing the concept, executing the artwork, and preparing all color separations for screen printing.

Independence Day, Resurgence

Collaborating with the Dogtown Lights set lighting crew on the Independence Day, Resurgence production, I designed a crew T-shirt that would resonate with the production crew. Incorporating symbols meaningful to the film, including the graphic of the Umbutu flag and the IDR set lighting insignia. The red and light grey of the flag was continued throughout the shirts design. The large alien head and red star graphic on the back of the t-shirt created an impactful, powerful and popular design element. To maintain visual continuity, The addition of the  red star element into the LiteGear logo on the front of the shirt. I was responsible for executing the artwork, and preparing all color separations for screen printing.

Black Panther

Working with the set lighting crew on the Black Panther production, I designed a crew T-shirt that would resonate with the production crew. I Incorporated a graphic representation of the Black Panther mask along with the iconic Black Panther logotype. Additionally, the “set lighting crew” font was design to closely align with the film iconic design. The large graphic of the mask in Black Panther signature purple created an impactful, powerful and popular design element. To maintain visual continuity, I added the purple elements into the LiteGear logo on the front of the t-shirt. I was responsible for the overall design, execution of the artwork, and preparing all color separations for screen printing.
